ARTIST STATEMENT

“Art has always had a way of finding me. For most of my adult life, people have commissioned me to pant something for them whether it was a portrait, a landscape, or a mural. After starting the Look Up Gallery in 2022, I’ve had a growing desire to pursue art fully.

I’m currently working on two series, Dichotomy and City Series. Dichotomy is a continuation of the grand opening show at The Look Up Gallery. It’s an abstract series that represents the all the “both/ands” of life, the beauty and the broken, the chaos and the controlled, the good and the hard, the already and not yet! My City Series is a collection of cityscapes exploring light. I love the time of day, sunrise and sunset, when light distorts both shape and color.” - Clay Ross
